Jessica Fuentes is a writer and arts professional whose work spans art criticism, art education, and culture, appearing in Hyperallergic, The Brooklyn Rail, and scholarly journals including the Journal of Museum Education and the Art Education Journal. As the News Editor for Glasstire, an online magazine dedicated to Texas art, Fuentes contributes news articles, reviews, opinion pieces, artist profiles, and interviews. In 2023, she received The Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant to support a series of articles highlighting Texas art spaces founded by and for artists of color.
An experienced art educator with over 15 years of expertise, Fuentes has taught in public schools, higher education, and museums. She spearheaded innovative initiatives connecting local artists with museums and the community, including the C3 Visiting Artist Project at the Dallas Museum of Art and the Carter Community Artists program at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art.
For over a decade, Fuentes has exhibited her artwork across North Texas. She is a former member of the F6 Gallery Collective and 500X Gallery. In 2023, she and Dallas-based performance artist Christian Cruz received a grant from the U.S. Latinx Art Forum’s Artist Mentorship Program.
In addition to her roles as News Editor at Glasstire and Director of Kinfolk House—a community art space founded by Sedrick and Letitia Huckaby in Fort Worth—Fuentes is deeply engaged in the local art scene. She serves on the Fort Worth Art Commission, the DFW Airport's public art advisory panel, and the board of Make Art with Purpose (MAP).
Based in Fort Worth, Texas, Fuentes finds inspiration in nature, art museums, and time spent creating in her home studio with her family.
