artist statement

Whether large-scale installations or intimate artist books/zines, my work explores the ephemerality of time, nature, memory, and dreams through repetition, distortion, and juxtaposition of images. Often these concepts are examined through layering photographs physically using transparency or vinyl or digitally through time-based media.

I draw mostly from 35mm and 120 film photographs captured over the past fifteen years from places I often revisit, like my hometown of Galveston, TX. My various series of works created over the past decade are connected through process, starting with photographs but then evolving and pushing the photographic medium past the traditional presentation of matted or framed images. The zine format is particularly appealing to me because it allows for greater accessibility to art by presenting works in an affordable and manageable format.
